THE COMMONS AT THE MCA FEATURES FREE 2018 FIFA WORLD CUP™ MATCHES

This summer, the Museum of Contemporary Art offers select 2018 FIFA World Cup™matches for free in its popular new gathering space, the Commons. Museum visitors and soccer (football) fans of all ages are invited to cheer on their favorite teams while enjoying snacks and drinks from the Marisol counter, and exploring the exhibitions during half time. Visitors can enter through the main doors on the first and second floors or through the museum’s back gate, which is open all summer during regular museum hours. Space is limited, the full screening schedule is online at www.mcachicago.org/Calendar/2018/06/FIFA-World-Cup-In-The-Commons.
The Commons space also features an artist project, eco monopoly, by Joan Giroux, which takes the form of interactive games that question the nature, identity, and ownership of public green spaces. Visitors are invited to join the artist throughout the summer to play, imagine, and learn about local ecologies in a series of programs. Also in tandem with the screenings, the MCA Storehas MCA Chicago soccer scarves designed by acclaimed artist Maurizio Cattelan as part of his latest project, MADE IN CATTELAND. Inspired by the ways today’s museums function as meeting spaces more than ever, Cattelan’s scarves are dedicated to contemporary art fans. The MCA Store also has PARK SSC soccer balls in a variety of styles and colors. For every PARK ball purchased, an identical ball is passed on to a child in need.
