CHEMICALLY IMBALANCED COMEDY PRESENTS NEWS-BASED COMEDY SHOW “THAT JUST HAPPENED” JAN. 10-FEB. 28, 2014
Chemically Imbalanced Comedy (CIC) will present the news-based scripted comedy show “That Just Happened,” Fridays at 8:00 pm January 10, 2013 through February 28, 2014 at the CIC Theater, 1422 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago, IL.
Following successful runs at Donny’s Skybox at The Second City, “That Just Happened” premieres at CIC for its fourth installment. The hour-long show tackles the week’s news, politics, sports and entertainment and turns it into material that is equal parts biting and whimsical.
“We promises to deliver the stories that matter with none of the respect and distinction that they deserve,” said host Harrison George.
Each week’s show will be entirely new, and include a combination of news-style jokes, character sketches, improvisation, and video segments. “That Just Happened” might feel like SNL’s Weekend Update or the Conan Show with the live spin that can only come from Chicago comedians. Highlights from previous seasons include a time-traveling celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Iraq War, movie reviews from your little brother and a Hurricane Sandy victim who just wants to do some trick-or-treatin’.
Co-hosted by George and Steph Cook, “That Just Happened” is directed by CIC Artistic Associate Phil Meister. The cast and writing team includes Chicago-based comedians who all perform at CIC and who perform and trained at The Second City and The iO Theater.
Tickets to each performance of “That Just Happened,” are $10 or $5 for students with an ID, and available at www.cicomedy.com. Tickets will also be on sale 30 minutes prior to each performance at the Chemically Imbalanced Theater Box Office.
Chemically Imbalanced Comedy (CIC) is a not-for-profit Theater Company whose mission is to provide performance opportunities for Chicago comedians. CIC presents improv, sketch, stand-up comedy and comedic plays at the CIC Theater, located at 1422 N. Irving Park Road in Chicago, Illinois.
