Chicago’s “HAMILTON” Miguel Cervantes Releases Rap Video To Find Epilepsy Cure for his one-year-old daughter Adelaide
Miguel Cervantes, Alexander Hamilton in the Chicago production of HAMILTON, is partnering with Chicago’s Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (CURE) in a new fundraising campaign to raise money to find a cure for his one-year-old daughter Adelaide, who suffers a rare childhood epilepsy syndrome. The website is myshotatepilepsy.org
The fundraising campaign with CURE (the Chicago-based foundation started by David and Susan Axelrod) will be releasing a PSA video and invite HAMILTON lovers to bring a little of HAMILTON home with them in an online raffle, providing opportunities for bidders to go caroling with Miguel and Hamilton cast members, a private party performance and special backstage passes and tickets to the show.
Adelaide is the beautiful one-year-old daughter of Kelly and Miguel Cervantes and beloved little sister to Jackson. She is also a member of the CURE family. Adelaide suffers from Infantile Spasms (IS), a rare childhood epilepsy syndrome that can have profoundly negative long-term consequences. Starting at 7 months, Adelaide began having dozens of seizures per day and as a result has severe developmental and cognitive delays. The current available treatments for IS are not always effective and are often associated with substantial adverse effects.
While there is currently no cure for IS, Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy is dedicated to curing IS and all other types of epilepsy by supporting epilepsy research across the globe. CURE has awarded IS investigators over $4 million to advance cutting-edge research. Together we can help Adelaide and the other 65 million people worldwide currently living with epilepsy.
