The program proved to be a draw for visitors from outside Chicago with 13% of patrons coming from beyond 50 miles of the city, including 36 states.
Deb Clapp, Executive Director of the League of Chicago Theatres commented, “Chicago Theatre Week was once again a tremendous success. Every year visitors and residents are reminded that throughout Chicagoland world class theatre is being produced every night. We are thrilled that this year 65% of audiences tried a new theatre and hope the spirit of discovery continues.”
“Chicago’s theater scene has been described as one of the seven wonders of the city, and with good reason,” said David Whitaker, President and CEO of Choose Chicago. “For the past five years, Chicago Theatre Week has brought theater patrons from all over the world closer to the artists who’ve made Chicago’s theater scene what it is and a key reason why Chicago remains one of the world’s leading destinations.”
