Emerald City Theatre To Suspend Operations
Dear Emerald City Patrons,
With a heavy heart, I’m writing to inform you that Emerald City Theatre will suspend operations following the completion of its fall and winter programs. We plan to close towards the end of January 2020.
We sent out a press release today with an explanation from our board and leadership. It’s a devastating situation for everyone involved.
Our holiday production of “Corduroy” will run as scheduled through Jan. 5, 2020 at Broadway In Chicago’s Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place. If your family would like one more artistic outing with ECT, we encourage you to catch the show in its last few weeks. We’ll also carry out our planned Winter Camp for children ages 3.5 to 15 from Dec. 23, 2019 to Jan. 3, 2020.
We will make every effort to provide refunds for cancelled programming when possible.
We know what it meant to invite ECT into your children’s lives. They are the most important people in your world, and you sent them to learn and play with us. We are forever humbled by this participation and support — from every show, class, and camp you attended to each donation you made towards our mission. You’ve been a part of 24 tremendous years, a place where every child could learn to face the world with creativity.
Everyone at ECT – our staff, designers, actors, and teaching artists – were honored to serve your family. We hope that your kiddo’s memories of ECT are happy. May these experiences serve them as they continue to grow into insightful, imaginative people.
With gratitude,
Emerald City Theatre
