, presented by BMO Harris Bank and ComEd, is a live show that takes adventurous space explorers on an immersive tour of the Solar System. Set in the future, Destination Solar System flies audiences from one end of the Solar System to the other in under 30 minutes! From sizzling solar flares on the Sun to liquid methane lakes on Saturn’s moon, Titan, tours to the hottest hot spots and the coldest, stormiest and most spectacular sights in the Solar System will launch daily from the Adler’s Grainger Sky Theater beginning May 16.

In Destination Solar System, it’s the year 2096, and space tourism is available to everyone. Space Express Tours, the first travel company in space, offers a variety of adventures, including its most popular, Destination Solar System. Departing from the Grainger Sky Theater, this tour takes place on board the fastest ship in the Space Express fleet and the only vehicle equipped with Space JumpÔ technology.

Through Destination Solar System, passengers can travel hundreds of millions of miles in just seconds on an adventure-filled tour led by Jesse, an enthusiastic, knowledgeable yet “green” tour guide, and MAX, a highly advanced, fully integrated onboard computer.

“This is not your typical tour of the Solar System,” said Michelle B. Larson Ph.D., president & CEO of the Adler Planetarium. “Destination Solar System is a surprising and unexpected tour that transports audiences to the future to experience space travel in an engaging way. Combining the technology of the Grainger Sky Theater, recent scientific discoveries, and a little fun with lovable characters, the Adler is creating a one-of-a-kind live adventure that will allow visitors of all ages to actively explore our solar neighborhood.”

Destination Solar System tours will launch daily from the Grainger Sky Theater, which offers audiences the most immersive, technologically advanced dome theater experience ever developed. Designed with leading-edge technologies that enable visitors to explore space as if they were there, the high-definition screen resolution presents a level of realism surpassed only by space travel itself.

“We are very strong supporters of Destination Solar System because it’s an enriching show that brings education to life in a very unique way,” said Darrel Hackett, Head of North American Integrated Channels, BMO Harris Bank and a Board of Trustees Member for the Adler Planetarium. “Whenever we can create educational opportunities that foster the desire to learn, we are increasing the potential for people to accelerate their learning.”

“Igniting curiosity is essential to giving tomorrow’s leaders the tools to succeed to their full potential, and it fuels their exploration of possibilities they may not have imagined before,” said Fidel Marquez, senior vice president of Governmental and External Affairs, ComEd and an Adler Trustee. “This show aligns perfectly with ComEd, as we’re constantly innovating to improve our operations to help create a stronger, more sustainable future.”

The Adler Planetarium gratefully acknowledges The Grainger Foundation for its generous support for the creation of Destination Solar System.
