The Palmer House Hilton (17 E. Monroe) is proud to announce its role as the official hotel sponsor of Reeling: The Chicago LGBT International Film Festival. As one of the most anticipated cultural events in the LGBT community, the festival provides exposure to the best LGBT films from around the globe. Hits from festivals like Cannes and Sundance and lesser-known but compelling works will air at the week-long festival from November 7-14, 2013. As the official hotel sponsor of the festival, the Palmer House will help welcome a crowd of over 12,000 people to the city of Chicago, including artists Andrea Bowen (Desperate Housewives), Molly Tarlov (MTV’s Awkward), Paul Iacono (MTV’s The Hard Times of RJ Berger), Trent Ford (The Vampire Diaries, How to Deal), Rob Mayes (90210, The Client List), Candis Cayne (Nip/Tuck, Dirty Sexy Money), two-time Grammy Award-winning singer / songwriter Matt Alber, and six-time Emmy Award-winner Bruce Vilanch.

As the world’s second longest running LGBT Film Festival, Reeling provides filmmakers, both local and worldwide, the chance to promote their work at a nationally renowned venue while introducing audiences to the work of the next generation of film directors, writers, and producers. As the Palmer House’s own walls reflect the tales of many celebrated film artists such as Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, and Jack Benny, Reeling’s film participants will get to enjoy the experience of staying at the historic entertainment destination.

“As always, we are excited to support to Reeling and the LGBT community,” Palmer House General Manager Dean Lane says. “We’re thrilled to be involved with this fantastic organization to present Reeling with the same support that the non-profit provides to LGBT filmmakers, actors, and producers, who strive to bring more diversity to the film industry.”

The 31st annual festival will take place this year from Thursday, November 7, through Thursday, November 14 and will show over 80 films. Tickets for screenings start at $12 for general admission to $15 for select special screenings. To purchase tickets, see the full film schedule, or a list of related events visit:

About the Reeling Film Festival

The mission of Reeling is to organize the important artistic contributions that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender filmmakers have made to our culture; to educate the general population and sensitize them to lesbian, gay, and transgender issues; to investigate the history of LGBT film, including the stereotyping that has been a a major part of this history; and to counteract this stereotyping with valid, meaningful, and diverse portrayals of those in the LGBT community. The festival promotes a unique opportunity for the celebration of these identities for a community too often misrepresented or ignored in mainstream film and television.
