Milwaukee Rep’s 2013-14 Season
Artistic Director Mark Clements announced Milwaukee Repertory Theater’s 2012/13 Season today. The ambitious choice of plays includes a Tony Award-winning musical, two classics from American literature, two landmark plays written nearly 50 years apart, a musical parody of Broadway, two scintillating musical revues that celebrate the blues and the legendary music of Johnny Cash, an interactive stage show by mentalist Marc Salem and a soul-stirring hit from London and Broadway.
The 2012/13 Season reflects Clements’ continued commitment to select plays that reflect the society we live in and his desire to deepen the conversation with the community around the work that is seen on The Rep’s stages. The Rep has broadened the way that the work on its stages connects with the community through its audience engagement programs – expanded Talkbacks, special panel discussions, enhanced lobby displays, PlayGuides and the ongoing Rep In Depth program.

For the 2012/13 season, Milwaukee Repertory Theater will once again present 11 productions on three stages as well as the annual Milwaukee tradition A Christmas Carol in the adjacent Pabst Theater and Rep Lab, a short-play festival featuring The Rep’s Artistic Intern Company, in the Stiemke Studio.

September 26- November 4 ~ Stiemke StudioTaking place on April 3, 1968, The Mountaintop is a gripping reimagining of events the night before the assassination of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. After delivering one of his most memorable speeches.
October 19 – December 23 ~ Stackner CabaretA dynamite revue that features blues classics from Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Bessie Smith, and many more, packed into a larger-than-life score that’ll bring down the house!
October 23 – December 2 ~ Quadracci PowerhouseAnne Frank’s remarkable diary is a testament to the human spirit and its young author’s “boundless desire for all that is beautiful and good.” This moving, true story is essential viewing for every generation.
December 11- January 13 ~ Quadracci PowerhouseFrom the author of Pride and Prejudice comes this heartwarming, humorous tale of two sisters struggling to move past a family disaster.
December 28- February 24 ~ Stackner CabaretMentalist Marc Salem brings his interactive stage show to The Rep for an experience that will leave you astounded, dumbfounded, and believing the unbelievable!
January 16 through February 24, 2013 ~ Stiemke StudioReligion and science collide in a visceral examination of the way in which we navigate interpersonal relationships involving seemingly irreconcilable beliefs—and just how hard it is to truly listen to one another in an increasingly polarized world.
March 1 – May 5 ~ Stackner CabaretFrom the iconic songbook of Johnny Cash comes this unique musical about love and faith, struggle and success, rowdiness and redemption, and home and family.
