McNally’s SOME MEN Is A Precipice in History

“Some Men” is Tony Award winner Terrence McNally’s powerful and touching chronicle of gay life throughout the last 80 years.  David Zak and Pride films and Plays have put together a wonderful ensemble cast that artfully tells the tale of a modern gay wedding and the long and sometimes unimaginable road it has taken same sex couples to reach this precipice in history upon which we now find ourselves. 

Through a series of vignettes pulled from historical and pivotal moments of gay history in the U.S., we relive the emotions of each era- from the underground bars of the pre-Stonewall era through the early AIDS crisis and beyond to today.  Story telling and song are interspersed (along with some full frontal male nudity…YES!) with camp and comedy. McNally’s script had me laughing aloud one moment and crying the next.

Regular performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30. Sunday performances are at 6:00 on August 17 and 24, and 4:00 pm on August 31 and September 7. There is a special Wednesday night performance on September 10th at 7:30. And closing is Saturday, September 13. Tickets are $15 for previews, $25 for Thursdays and the one Wednesday performance, and $30 for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
