MCA PRIME TIME PRESENTED IN COLLABORATION WITH LAND AND SEA DEPT. October 2, 2015 1 The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago presents MCA Prime Time, a new after-hours series that taps into the creative pulse of Chicago with a dynamic mix of live music, performance art, interactive programs, and great food. Taking place three times a year, MCA Prime Time is an electrifying social experience that provides a platform for artists and key cultural groups in the city.For the October 2 inaugural event, the MCA collaborates with Chicago-based Land and Sea Dept.(LSD), the concept and project design studio behind Longman & Eagle, Parson's Chicken & Fish, and the Cherry Circle Room at the Chicago Athletic Association. The MCA and LSD have curated a night featuring electropop star Dan Deacon, art and design experiences led by Chicago artists, and LSD restaurants that pop up at the MCA to serve their signature dishes. Prime Time takes place at the MCA on October 2 from 7-11 pm. The evening follows a theme of "Vibes" with Dan Deacon bringing his frenetic dance music and unpredictable theatrics to a live music performance powered by infectious pop beats and audience participation. Alongside the live music, LSD bars and restaurants occupy the museum for the evening. Parson's Chicken and Fish set up their custom red and white umbrellas and picnic tables, as Chef Hunter Moore and bar manager Charlie Schott serve up Parson's famous dishes and slushies. The tiki bar Lost Lake and the American-Chinese take-out counter Thank You present Paul McGee's signature cocktails and bites from Chefs Jennifer Jackson and Justin Tootla. Longman & Eagle's culinary offerings are served, complete with bar manager Phil Olson's drinks and Executive Chef Matt Kernery. Other artists featured throughout the night include: Elliot Bergman, of indie-pop duo Wild Belle, performing live on the MCA plaza Domestic Animal, the part light show and part live music piece from Chicago musicians Drew Ryan and Derek Weber Hit + Run, masters of live screen-printing workshops, leading participants in creating original artwork Jeremiah Chiu of Plural leading his Smartphone Symphony where participants play tones via their smartphone and construct their own user-generated symphonies A pop-up market -- curated by Land & Sea Dept. and called the "LSD Mini-Mart" -- showcasing the artwork of local makers across various disciplines, including Sonnenzimmer, LVL3 with the Arts of Life, The Pitchfork Review, WesternXeditions, and Drag City   TICKET INFORMATION Tickets to MCA Prime Time are $ $20 at the door and $15 in advance. Future Prime Time events will be co-hosted with indie music tastemaker Pitchfork (February 5), and Chicago's home of house music, SmartBar and renowned music venue The Metro (May 6).
