unnamed (12)Back by popular demand! After selling out both nights of the inaugural shows and having to turn patrons away, LEVELdance has decided to remount their highly successful NOCTURNE shows later this month.

LEVELdance’s NOCTURNE is a 40 minute, site-specific dance installation which travels through the non-auditorium spaces of the historic Athenaeum Theatre. Created as an after hours show and inspired by the intrigue of the “dark hours”, NOCTURNE engages the audience and travels them through a pathway of nontraditional dance spaces, from bars, to breezeways, and up stairwells. LEVELdance asks the audience to partake in the journey of a voyeur who travels and discovers the artistic portrayal of different late night vignettes, all the while being part of the the night scape.

The four choreographers for LEVELnocturne are Co-Artistic Director Eddy Ocampo, Extensions Dance Company Director Lizzie MacKenzie Pontarelli, and former River North Dance Chicago dancers Brandon DiCriscio and Christian Denice.

The dancers for LEVELnocturne have previously danced with an expansive array of Chicago dance companies. Brandon DiCriscio (River North), Brian Hare (Thodos Dance Chicago), Aaron Rogers (Joffrey Ballet and Visceral Dance Chicago) and Stephanie Hilton (Thodos Dance Chicago & Giordano Dance Chicago).

Performance time is 10 p.m. August 28 & 29. Bar opens at 9:00 for pre-show cocktails and will remain open after the show for drink with the performers.
