Former member of Australia’s The TEN Tenors, Daniel Belle makes his anticipated U.S. solo concert debut at the McCallum Theatre on Friday, January 20, at 8:00pm. One of the most elegant and powerful tenor voices of his generation, Daniel presents a program representing the twists and turns of his career – from pop to Broadway to opera.

Titled “An Unexpected Song,” Daniel says his show is “simply put, an homage to beautiful songs.” The show is a collection of songs from music throughout his career. “I’ve had the great fortune of being on many stages in Australia, in many different stylings. From that, I’ve hand-picked some of the most meaningful or beautiful pieces I know, from ‘Music of the Night’ from Phantom of the Opera, to ‘Soliloquy’ from Carousel and ‘Bring Him Home’ from Les Miserables. There will also be pop songs from ‘Unchained Melody’ to Queen’s ‘Somebody to Love,’ and everyone’s favorite opera aria, ‘Nessun Dorma.’ They’ve all been lusciously arranged and I can’t wait to sing them.”

Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Daniel’s passion for singing began at age 9 when he was a boy soprano who sang with his grandmother accompanying him at the piano. Daniel’s growing talent as a singer was evident when he was a finalist on “Australian Idol” when he was just 21.

Joining Australia’s famed vocal group The TEN Tenors in 2012, Daniel toured the world, performing in Australia, Europe and the United States as part of the group’s “Double Platinum” tour, including the Tenors’ holiday show at the McCallum Theatre in December 2013. He also appeared on the Tenors’ Christmas album, Our Christmas Wish, and the follow-up release, On Broadway.

An accomplished musical theatre performer, Daniel was cast in Jerry Springer: The Opera at the Sydney Opera House in 2009, covering the role of Dwight/God. Since 2014, Daniel has toured Australia and Asia in the cast of Les Miserables, covering the role of Jean Valjean. He also played the role of Terry in the Australian premier of Side Show in Sydney in 2016. This past November, Daniel appeared in Les Miserables at the new Dubai Opera, the first time this iconic musical played in Dubai.

Over his career, Daniel has performed at a number of significant occasions and has been in demand as a performer for numerous large sporting events. He performed at the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney. He also performed at Australia’s Rugby Union’s Bledisloe Cup, the Lion’s Tour, the International One Day Cricket finals and the Australian Swimming Championships. In 2008, he was a guest performer for the arrival of the Pope in Sydney.

Accomplished in both theatre and vocal performance, Daniel’s versatility has seen him cross the breadth of contemporary music, cabaret, musical theatre and opera. Daniel can also be found in the recording studio, having collaborated with, and produced for, other artists.

In addition, Daniel was a finalist for both The Rob Guest Endowment and The Joan Sutherland Scholarship.

Daniel is delighted to be back on the McCallum stage and, as he says, “I’m so excited to bring to you a wonderful night of beautiful songs and music in my U.S. concert debut at the McCallum.”
