First Folio’s JEEVES TAKES A BOW Extends to March 3rd

header_jeevestakesabowFirst Folio Theatre (Mayslake Peabody Estate, 31st St. & Rt. 83) presents the witty comedy JEEVES TAKES A BOW, running now through March 3. Tickets are selling quickly and the following performances have been added due to popular demand: Friday, February 22 at 3 p.m.; Saturday, February 23 at 4 p.m.; Sunday, February 24 at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, February 27 at 3 p.m.; Saturday, March 2 at 4 p.m.; and Saturday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Directed by Jeff Award nominee Alison C. Vesely (First Folio’s A Moon for the Misbegotten), the cast of First Folio’s 2009 production Jeeves in Bloom will reprise their roles in JEEVES TAKES A BOW, starring Jim McCance as “Jeeves” and Christian Gray (The Madness of Edgar Allan Poe and Romeo & Juliet at First Folio Theatre, The Glass Menagerie at Oak Park Festival Theatre) as “Bertie.”

“The return of Jeeves and Bertie is as welcome as a reunion with old friends!” said The Daily Herald. The Chicago Sun-Times raved, “For riotous, light-hearted comedy, Jeeves is hard to beat!” The Chicago Tribune enthused that “Jim McCance is a picture perfect Jeeves!”  JEEVES TAKES A BOW is the third installment of Margaret Raether’s adaptations of the stories of P.G. Wodehouse

 

British upper crust meets the New York mob in the witty new play JEEVES TAKES A BOW.  Everyone’s favorite hapless hero, Bertie Wooster, embarks on an American adventure armed only with his handsome fortune, his talent for trouble, and his remarkable manservant, Jeeves.  In less than a New York minute, Bertie finds himself knee-deep in troubles with vengeful gangsters, chorus girls, and a new Broadway musical.

 

The cast also features Lydia Berger Gray (Yellow Face at Silk Road Theatre Project) as “Vivienne Duckworth;” Kevin McKillip (The Merchant of VeniceThe Turn of the Screw and Unnecessary Farce at First Folio Theatre, Making God Laugh at Theatre at the Center) as “Binky Binkersteth;” David Rice (Boolie in Driving Miss Daisy and Snug in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at First Folio Theatre) as “Knuckles McCann;” and Jennifer Shine (My Fair Lady at Paramount Theatre) as “Ruby LeRoy.”

Set design by Angela Weber Miller (two time Jeff nominee for A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN and JEEVES IN BLOOM), Sound Design by Christopher Kriz (Jeff winner for THE TURN OF THE SCREW), Lighting Design by Shelly Holland, and Costume Design by Elsa Hiltner (Jeff nominee for DRIVING MISS DAISY).

JEEVES TAKES A BOW is currently running through March 3, 2013. The regular schedule is Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.  There will also be performances on Friday, February 22 at 3 p.m.; Saturday, February 23 at 4 p.m.; Sunday, February 24 at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, February 27 at 3 p.m.; Saturday, March 2 at 4 p.m.; and Saturday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets range from $26-37 and preview tickets are $22.
