EDITH PIAF’S BEACON THEATRE TRIBUTE TO BE TELEVISED WORLDWIDE ON TV5MONDE YVES BIGOT, NETWORK’S NEW CEO AND EX-MUSIC INDUSTRY EXECUTIVE COMING TO NEW YORK FOR WEEK OF FESTIVITIES

fancofolies-new-328x253v2.328.254Having started his music and media industry career at the age of 17 when he opened a record store (Disque Import), it seems fitting that Yves Bigot will come to New York as the new CEO of TV5MONDE to be part of the live taping of a concert honoring the legendary Edith Piaf who had loyal fans on both sides of the pond. Mr. Bigot, the new CEO of TV5MONDE will be attending “A Tribute to Edith Piaf” featuring Harry Connick, Jr., Duffy, Marianne Faithfull and many others at the Beacon Theatre, September 19. TV5MONDE has announced it will be airing (to be seen in the U.S. on TV5MONDE USA) a special broadcast of the concert in October honoring one of France’s most beloved chanteuses and is also a sponsor of the Beacon show.

While in New York, Mr. Bigot will also welcome partners and guests of TV5MONDE at evening cocktail reception celebrating the network’s new “Cinema on Demand” partnership with Comcast – Friday, September 20 at A Voce on Columbus Circle overlooking Central Park.  Launched earlier this year, the “Cinema on Demand” service – the first of its kind in America – is now in 12 Comcast systems around the country. Mr. Bigot will also be on hand for a special dedication honoring the expansion of TV5MONDE USA’s relationship with FIAF, New York’s 60th Street French learning institution.

After enjoying his first taste of the music industry, Mr. Bigot undertook a long radio career which included Europe 1 in Paris and host of different hit shows such as “Rock à l’Œil,” “TransEurope Express” and “Club Mondial” and was also a reporter for the French version of Rolling Stone magazine.  He also was a contributor for such publications as Guitare et ClaviersRock & Folkand Le Nouvel Observateur magazine.  He presided as the Director of Musical Programming of the French radio France Inter, where he also hosted program such as “France Interview” and “Stop 50.” For nearly a decade he was also Editor-in-Chief of the hit television program Rapido (broadcast on Canal+ and distributed on BBC in the UK as well as in 12 other countries).

Mr. Bigot also served as Deputy GM of Fnac Music Production before joining Phonogram France (now Mercury France) as GM.  He later served as President of Victoires de la musique, the French music award ceremony equivalent to the Grammys.

Prior to joining TV5MONDE last December, Mr. Bigot was previously Director of RTL programming, a position he had held since 2010.  He began his media career as an animator on private radio Europe 1 before working in the music programming, production and editing.

He also led the unit varieties, games and entertainment, and programs of the public television channel France 2 (1998-2004) and from 2006 to 2008, the programs of the Francophone Belgian television (RTBF).

He has also authored several books on music and also is the author of a book regarding the history of Saint-Tropez.
