Mr. Grinch. You really are a heel. You’re as cuddly as a cactus. You’re as charming as an eel. Mr. Grinch! You’re a bad banana with a greasy black peel!

Dr. Seuss’ beloved poem which has become a holiday staple with its famous television cartoon special and more recently big budget Hollywood film with Jim Carrey, has found its way to the boards in this delcisous and high spirited musical version now playing at the Cadillac Palace Theatre.

Originally placed on Broadway for the holiday season in 2006 and again in 2007, Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical, was conceived and originally directed by the great Jack O’Brien. Since then Grinch has been touring across the nation in this lavishly designed and fantastically acted production, headed by they amazingly nimble Stafan Karl as the green grump. As with most of the cast, Mr. Karl background has involved children’s theatre and television and his repore with the youthful audience members bares that out brilliantly.Dr. Seuss' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! The familiar story is narrated by the elder Max The Dog (Bob Lauder) who recounts, by brilliant baritone, the hateful heart of the Grinch and his revenge in trying to take Christmas away from the little Whos of Whosville. We get to see younger Max, the agile and winning Seth Bazacas, come under the mastership of the Grinch and through many a production number, witness how one little Who win over the heart of green giant.

Those young and old familiar with the story will find it this production a feast for the eyes and ears. The cast is first rate, the orchestra is vibrant and the design team (sets by John Lee Beatty, costumes by Robert Morgan and make-up designer Chad Jason) has created a storybook setting for the action to take place. Director Matt August keeps strikes the right balance between adult and child humor and the ensemble is clearly having as good of a time on stage as is the audience.Dr. Seuss' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS!
