Cygnet Theatre Announces New Staff Memebers
Founding Board member Manny Fernandes has been promoted to the role of Operations Manager where he will oversee front of house and patron services staff along with the daily operations at Cygnet’s Old Town Theatre. Fernandes served as the first Board President and in 2007 he left the board to join the staff full-time. Manny has a long history with the Old Town Theatre, previously serving as Director of Ticketing and Technology for Miracle Theatre Productions from 1999-2006. In addition to his duties as Operations Manager, he is also a Resident Artist, having appeared in more than a dozen productions. Manny holds a BA in Theatre Arts from UC San Diego. Next up, he will be appearing with Francis Gercke in Cygnet’s rotating repertory presentation of Sam Shepard’s, Fool for Love and True West, directed bySean Murray.
Taking over Manny’s former Marketing Director responsibilities will be Autumn Doermann-Rojas. Autumn is a marketing professional with experience in branding, advertising creative, social media, production, event planning, and communications. She comes to Cygnet after seven years at KGTV/10News where she worked with advertising clients on marketing and promotional campaigns, major station initiatives and community outreach projects. Prior to that she worked in the non-profit field, holding positions at The Alzheimer’s Association and Family Health Centers of San Diego. Doermann-Rojas is bilingual and bicultural in Spanish and graduated in from UC Santa Barbara with a BA in English and a minor in Spanish. She holds a Marketing Certificate from UC San Diego Extension and is a LEAD San Diego class of 2010 alumni.
Doermann-Rojas will focus on raising community awareness of Cygnet Theatre, as well as the marketing and advertising strategy and implementation for each individual production. She loves the theatre, and her claim to fame is the supporting role of Toto in her kindergarten production of The Wizard of Oz, followed by the highly-reviewed role of Sunbeam Number 4.
