Congrats to Our Friend JASON STUART: Honored with the Jose Julio Sarria International Civil Rights Award 1 SAG-AFTRA’s LGBT Actors Committee National co-chair, Actor & Comedian Jason Stuart is being honored with the Jose Julio Sarria International Civil Rights Award, which will be presented by the International Imperial Court System (IICS) during the next engagement of the LGBTs In The News panel series yesterday, Thursday September 24th in San Francisco at 7pm. To be held at the San Francisco LGBT Center in the Rainbow Room. Jason came out in show business 22 years ago.
Upon being invited as a panelist to our San Francisco engagement on Sept. 24, IICS's top official, Nicole Murray Ramirez learned that SAG-AFTRA has been an ongoing advocate of LGBTs In The News. Ramirez and IICS decided to take the event as an opportunity to recognize Jason's work on behalf of LGBT professionals working in, and seeking work in, the entertainment and media spheres. Presentation of the Jose Julio Sarria International Civil Rights Award to Jason Stuart will precede the panel discussion. His fellow panelists will be Dr. Betty Sullivan (publisher of The Bay Times) Bay Area Reporter columnist and editor, Mathew Bajko, Nicole Murray Ramirez (LGBT Weekly columnist, IICS top official and San Diego City Commissioner), as well as the legendary AIDS Memorial Quilt founder, Cleve Jones. Jason is often asked, “If you break the ground, do you get to walk on it?” With his upcoming role in THE BIRTH OF A NATION, as straight plantation owner “Joseph Randall”. We believe that yes, the times are a changing for this prolific character actor. The movie is written and directed by NATE PARKER, who stars as slave-revolt leader “Nat Turner”. The film also stars Armie Hammer, Penelope Ann Miller, Jackie Earl Haley, Aja Naomi King, Colman Domingo, Roger Guenveur Smith, and Gabrielle Union.  He was ralso ecently seen in the hit Sundance film TANGERINE that was shot on the iphone5, SLEEPY HOLLOW on FOX TV and his award winning web-series MENTOR with Alexandra Paul & Paul Elia. Jason will be seen in a supporting role as "Mr. WIlls in the comedy parody HUSH UP SWEET CHARLOTTE, Starring Varla Jean Merman, Mink Stole, Mathew Martin and David Millbern (also producer)  for Oct 28th at San Francisco’s Castro Theatre in SAN FRANCISCO!
