On January 9, 2016 at 8 p.m. Raue Center For The Arts welcomes Lisa Rock and her six-piece band as they pay tribute to the music of Karen and Richard Carpenter in “Close to You: The Music of the Carpenters.”

Considered one of the greatest musicians of all time, Karen Carpenter captured the attention of a generation with her unabashedly catchy pop music. The Carpenters topped the Billboard charts with more than a dozen number one hit love songs. Now, Rock and her six-piece band are bringing the beautiful and unforgettable music of the Carpenters back to the stage with their spot-on renditions of the classics.

Singer and playwright Lisa Rock has been performing to sold-out crowds for years. Rock has written more than 15 original concerts and cabarets that have been seen across the country. Now, she and her six-piece band are devoted to creating a Carpenters’ experience like no other.

Rock’s incredible four octave vocal range allows her to perform classic hits including “We’ve Only Just Begun” and “Rainy Days and Mondays” in their original key, creating a genuine and recognizable performance for fans. “When she hits the lower range of her marvelous voice,” notes critic Alan Bresloff, “if you close your eyes, you can see Karen Carpenter’s face.”

Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased online at rauecenter.org or via the Box Office at 815.356.9212 or 26 N. Williams Street in downtown Crystal Lake.
