About the Production
Chicago Fringe Opera presents three performances of Benjamin Britten’s 1946 chamber opera The Rape of Lucretia. The opera’s story is based on poetry of Shakespeare and Ovid. The CFO production sets the story in the present day and examines the prevalence of rape in the military. Using live video, this production takes place during a military investigation into an alleged rape, and focuses on the aftermath of sexual violence.
