Cabaret Artist Becca McCoy's THE PEARL IN THE HOGWALLER at Davenport's, Friday, Nov. 30th

“THE PEARL IN THE HOGWALLER,” Becca McCoy’s solo cabaret about moving from Chicago to the rural town of Palatka, Florida, is getting its Chicago premiere at Davenport’s Piano Bar and Cabaret on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 8pm.  A piece she performed to tremendous response in the Tampa Bay area at venues including The Palladium Theater and Eckerd College’s Celebration of the Arts, the sixty-minute show features an eclectic array of music, from Stephen Sondheim to CARRIE: THE MUSICAL, Indigo Girls to PIPPIN, all sung in Becca’s inimitable style.  Andrew Blendermann accompanies on piano.

In THE PEARL IN THE HOGWALLER, go on a journey of coping and self-discovery backdropped by a rural town full of quirks and surprises.  A little bit Erma Bombeck, a bit little Demetri Martin, and a little bit Jane Curtain, with a 4-octave range.

Becca McCoy is a professional actor whose Chicago credits include SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL (Sour Kangaroo) at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN (Josie) and CANDIDA (Candida) at Illinois Theatre Center, and THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE (Sister) at Drury Lane Oakbrook.  Regionally, she has done nearly 150 performance of the role of Brooke in MOTHERHOOD THE MUSICAL at the Straz Center (Tampa), Merrimack Hall (Huntsville), and Trinity Repertory Theatre (Providence).  She has worked at regional theatres nationwide, including a performance as Virilla in THE FROGS that garnered her mentions in AMERICAN THEATRE MAGAZINE and THE SONDHEIM REVIEW.
