“As we continue to expand the Katten/Landau Studio series, we are thrilled to introduce audiences to some

of Chicago’s most beloved performers,” said Executive Director Brett Batterson. “Both Rod and Alfreda, as well as The Bourné Family, create an atmosphere that is inviting and intimate. To see them perform in this space gives both the audience and the performers a truly unique experience.”

Co-produced with The Auditorium Theatre, Alfreda Burke and Rodrick Dixon bring their self-developed cabaret piece to the Katten/Landau Studio, Sunday, November 18 at 3 pm. Drawing from their own lives and relationship, Burke—hailed by the “Chicago Tribune” as a voice that’s… “voluptuous, creamy and luxuriant”—and Dixon whose “voice has a quality like polished steel under tension–flexible and ringingly resonant,” (“Chicago Tribune”) treat audiences to an intimate performance filled with a diverse lineup of songs including Broadway favorites, spiritual gems and operatic treasures. Directed by Linda Brovsky with musical direction by Matt Long, “Songs of a Dream” tells the story of two driven musicians whose passion for music and each other resonates throughout their lives.

“Alfreda and I are so thrilled to be back at The Auditorium Theatre performing something that is so near and dear to our hearts,” said Dixon. Added Burke, “We are grateful to The Auditorium for giving us the opportunity to tell our journey through song in such an intimate setting that the new Katten/Landau studio is able to provide.”

“Songs of a Dream” is available for booking in 2013 and beyond through The Auditorium Theatre. Please contact Kathy Bliss for more information – (312) 341-2365 orkbliss@auditoriumtheatre.org.

The Bourné Family returns to The Auditorium Theatre’s Katten/Landau Studio with “Home for the Holidays with the Bourné Family” on Saturday, December 1 at 8 pm. Composed of 8 children and their mother Lisa, the modern day von Trapps combine unique vocal harmonies which blend in what is often referred to by their fans as “the voices of angels.” Through traditional carols, along with holiday songs from other countries, the family shares the meaning of the holiday season and celebrates the true spirit of family, friends and music.

“We are so honored to be back at The Auditorium Theatre performing at the Katten/Landau studio,” said Bourné Family singer Elizabeth Bourné. “To bring our own family traditions and holiday spirit to Auditorium audiences is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season and share the magic of music with friends and family.”
