More Stories to Tell: Barrel of Monkeys Presents More Performances of “That’s Weird, Grandma”

Barrel of Monkeys, the Chicago-based arts education theater ensemble, will bring their popular weekly showcase That’s Weird, Grandma to Sundays for a 9 week run.  In addition, the regular Monday evening performances will resume their open run on March 15.
Adored by audiences of all ages, Barrel of Monkeys’ long-running hit is a hilarious, bizarre and high-energy presentation of songs and sketches written by kids.  The material originates from the Monkeys teaching of creative writing workshops in the Chicago public schools system, then their ensemble of actors, comedians, musicians and playwrights adapts some of the thousands of stories generated by children for stage presentation.  The result has been an audience favoritea show that issafefor all ages, yet very much appreciated by an adult audience.  Thats Weird, Grandma (titled by a line from the original 2001 run) changes each week and has now produced over 1000 stories and musical numbers.
