Hedy Weiss to lead talkback after Direct from Death Row The Scottsboro Boys July 24
This Sunday, July 24, help Raven welcome Chicago Sun-Times Theater and Dance Critic Hedy Weiss! After the 3 pm matinee performance of Direct from Death Row The Scottsboro Boys, Hedy will interview the cast and director and take questions from the audience.Hedy had some very nice things to say about on WTTW’s Chicago Tonight last September. Hedy Weiss has been Theater and Dance Critic of the Chicago Sun-Times since 1984, reporting on local, national and international productions, as well as a wide range of other subjects including art and architecture, music, books, travel and international affairs.
Since 2002, she also has served as Theater and Dance Critic for “Chicago Tonight,” the nightly news magazine on WTTW-Channel 11, Chicago’s PBS station, and she has contributed frequently to radio programs on WGN and WBEZ radio. A Contributing Editor to Dance Magazine, Weiss’ work also has appeared in the London Observer, the Boston Globe, the Lincoln Center Playbill, Pointe Magazine, American Theater Magazine and many other publications. She has served on the Pulitzer Prize panel for Drama three times. She is the recipient of awards from the Arts and Business Council of Chicago, the Jeff Awards Committee and the Sara Siddons Society. Before turning to journalism, Weiss, who grew up in New York and graduated from Hunter College, was a dancer and choreographer, and taught at the Theater School of DePaul University.
