Brain Surgeon Theater Announces Ongoing Family Matinee Series

1656331_10153845581050611_361916945_n (1)Brain Surgeon Theater is pleased to announce an ongoing Family Matinee Series featuring new weekly musicians, improvisers, dance troupes, and teaching artists throughout Fall 2014.Brain Surgeon Theater’s Family Matinee Series begins Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 3 pm and runs every Saturday thereafter at 3 pm through December 13, 2014. All performances and workshops are $10 general admission, $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased atbrainsurgeontheater.org or by calling 773-757-6206. All performances are appropriate for children ages 4 and up and run approximately 45 minutes. Performances will take place at Gorilla Tango Bucktown, 1919 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60647.

Brain Surgeon Theater’s Family Matinee Series begins on October 4 with musician Human Tim & Robot Tim (a local Chicago favorite who performs regularly at the Beat Kitchen’s Sunday family programming), and features storytellers Shanta Neruda, Dot Kane, and Tracy Ellert; dance troupes Ballet 5:8 and Dance to Evolve; improv troupe Build-A-Tale; Randy the Magician; musician Jason McInnes; original Brain Surgeon Theater workshop programming, and the Youth Shakespeare Project.

12/13/14: Youth Shakespeare Project Presents Romeo and Juliet (Abridged). Please note that the Youth Shakespeare Project’s performance is best for children ages 10 and up.

Brain Surgeon Theater is an ensemble of artist-educators that has been collaborating since 2006. Mack Oliver is a professional dancer and dance instructor currently training at the Joel Hall Dance Center. In addition to coordinating family matinee programming for Brain Surgeon Theater, Mack is the Enrichment Coordinator for Everybody Dance Now! Chicago and teaches young dancers with Dance to Evolve.
